The Band
Andy Rubin (banjo, mandolin, guitar, vocals)
Andy is the band’s co-founder and director. His clawhammer banjo playing in particular has helped to define the distinctive Freilachmaker sound. He lives in Sacramento with his wife and three children, working by day as a pesticide toxicologist.

Marc Epstein (clarinet)
Marc came to Sacramento from Washington, DC, where he co-founded the MiraMar Klezmers with Israeli accordionist Mira Yemini. He is a professional entomologist with an eclectic musical background that also includes classical music and jazz of various eras and regions. He lives in Sacramento with his wife (an epidemiologist and avid Israeli folkdancer) and son (a trumpet player).

David Rosenfeld (mandolin, fiddle, guitar, percussion)
Music teacher and performer extraordinaire, Dave has taught klezmer workshops for several years. He also is a member of the renowned San Francisco klezmer ensemble Kugelplex.

Wayne Lutzow (accordion)
Trained as a classical accordionist and currently the owner / operator of Twelve Tone Piano Service, Wayne has concertized throughout California. A resident of the town of Lincoln, he and his wife Diana are the parents of three daughters, and have ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Lou Ann Weiss (string bass and cello)
Lou Ann has been with the group since its beginning in 1995. She lives in Sacramento with her husband and three children, where she works as a public health nurse.

Elaine Fingerett
(accordion)
Performing in Windows Musical Mask Theatre in the early 90's, Elaine explored the uses of accordion in political/environmental guerilla theatre. She also performs with the Davis Klezmer Orchestra. A botanist at the UCD Arboretum, Elaine delights in her forays into art-science fusion. She is featured on the band's "Flower of Berezin" CD.

Felipe Ferraz (classical guitar, vocals)
Brazilian-born guitarist and vocalist Felipe Ferraz brings his South American influences to many styles of music: classical, Brazilian jazz and folk, Sephardic, klezmer and children's music from around the world. He lives in Sacramento with his wife and son, where he educates and entertains. Felipe can be heard on "And I in the Uttermost West".

David Kidron (violin, pennywhistle, balalaika, vocals)
Dave co-founded the Freilachmakers with Andy back in 1995. His playing was featured on "The Flower of Berezin" CD. He and his wife are currently living back in his native New Zealand.

Annette Brodovsky, the Freilachmakers’ fiddler between 2000 and 2005, was tragically killed by a drunk driver on April 2, 2007 as she stood on her friend’s front lawn in Sacramento. Annette was waiting to enter the house to celebrate the Passover seder. A wife and mother of two young children (and happily expecting a third), Annette’s death has been an overwhelming shock to her family, to the Sacramento Jewish community, to the Freilachmakers and to her many friends and fans. We pray that, in the fullness of time, the tremendous pain will recede and we’ll be left with her wonderful music and her multitude acts of lovingkindness to remember her by.

(Donations to help the Brodovsky family can be sent to “Jewish Family Service, 2862 Arden Way, Suite 103, Sacramento, CA 95825”. Please indicate that the funds go to the “Annette Brodovsky Family Memorial Fund”.)
